I find parts of stoicism very appealing. Although it can be a bit at odds with my hedonistic streak. I haven’t got much further than Seneca, Marcus Aurelius, and some Epictetus.
The value of time
People are frugal in guarding their personal property; but as soon as it comes to squandering time they are most wasteful of the one thing in which it is right to be stingy.Seneca
It is not that we have so little time but that we lose so much. … The life we receive is not short but we make it so; we are not ill provided but use what we have wastefully.Seneca
If you are distressed by anything external, the pain is not due to the thing itself, but to your estimate of it; and this you have the power to revoke at any moment.Marcus Aurelius
